‘Be prepared and safe out there:’ Auto personnel advise staying on top of car maintenance as temperatures drop
SALISBURY, Md. – As you prepare for the cold weather, pulling out those coats and boots, you also want to remember to get your car ready for the winter season.
We checked in with Delaware Tire Centers and they tell 47 ABC keeping up with your vehicle’s general maintenance is always important, but especially as those temperatures continue to drop.
They advise you to stay on top of things like your oil changes, coolant levels, tires, and air pressure.
Management says, a lower tire pressure signal may be an early indicator that it’s time to get new tires to prevent you from being stranded on the road, which could be dangerous in cold temperatures. “There’s a lot of all-weather technology that’s been coming out in the last few years that gives you a tire that has snow rating and is capable of being used in the summer. That’s kind of where I recommend going. Especially if snow travel is a concern of yours,” said Service Manager Allen Cress.
“Double check everything. Make sure your pressures and everything is good. Might be worth having a blanket and making sure your safety equipment is there. Check the air pressure in your spare tire as well, a lot of people might miss that. Just try to be prepared and be safe out there.”
Cress also advises people to keep safety items in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
