Apple Scrapple in full swing for 2021, vendors excited to be back

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – On Friday, the annual Apple Scrapple Festival returned after taking off a year due to the pandemic.

Among the many events welcomed back, vendors were able to come out again to help their businesses. 47 ABC spoke with Susan Baynum, an employee at Tony’s Pizza; a staple in the Bridgeville community. Baynum tells us, the late owner of Tony’s Pizza passed away four years ago, but his legacy and his restaurant is still carried on by his two daughters, and his son-in-law, Sal.

However, she says the best part about it all is being back out in the community again.

“We’re able to see people, meet people, and still carry authentic Italian foods,” says Baynum.

Baynum also tells 47 ABC, Tony’s pizza does more than make delicious pizza, they also lend a helping hand to the community. Between their new business ‘All About Inflatables,’ to sponsoring breast cancer awareness events, helping out homeless shelters, and doing much more behind the scenes that much of the public is unaware of.

All in all, Baynum and other vendors at the festival say it was pure joy to see some normalcy in the community again and be on their way to moving forward.

The Apple Scrapple Festival is set to return next year, the second weekend of October 2022.
