$25K going to Salisbury University to help students struggling financially
SALISBURY, Md. – Students at Salisbury University are getting extra support during the pandemic.
The University has been selected as a 2021 Progress Accomplishment Thriving Hope Scholarship recipient through the Ellucian Foundation. The program provides grants to higher education to support struggling students.
SU received $15,000 from the Foundation with an additional $10,000 match from the SU Foundation. We’re told with the large number of applications received for this scholarship it shows just how much the funding was needed.
“It was one of those things where that lit gap at the end where they exhausted all different other opportunities and so it really makes it so some of those students would not have been able to come back to the university or would have a larger loan,” Jayme Block, SU’s Associate VP of Development, said.
SU added they also have their own version of this type of scholarship; a student emergency fund where alumni, community members, and parents can give money to.
