Weather Tidbits: Sea Breeze

How does a sea breeze work is the topic of this Weather Tidbits. The process begins when air rises and creates low pressure on land; while cooler ocean air brings sinking air and high pressure by the water. Air flows from high to low pressure, creating wind and this is how a sea breeze forms. The breeze will be strongest by the water and decrease inland and will tend to peak in the afternoon, where the temperature difference between the water and land are greatest.
