Warrant attempt leads to drug, firearm charges for Lincoln man

HARRINGTON, Del. – A Delaware man is behind bars after he was found in possession of drugs and a stolen handgun during a warrant attempt on Wednesday.

Shortly after 1 p.m., troopers responded to a camper in the 4200 block of Gun and Rod Club Road to conduct a warrant attempt for an individual wanted on an active capias. When troopers arrived, they found a man sitting in the driver seat of a 2005 Chrysler 300 matching the description of the wanted subject. Troopers then made contact with the man, identified as 53-year-old Milton Lofland, and detected a strong odor of marijuana.

A criminal investigation ensued, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 4.823 grams of heroin, 12.61 grams of crack cocaine, a SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun with nine rounds of ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and two packages of THC edible gummies. Police say they also found $540 in suspected drug money on Lofland’s person, and a computer check revealed that the handgun was stolen from Landsford, Pennsylvania, in November 2020.

Lofland was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

He was held at SCI on a $35,700 cash bond.
