Portion of Route 13 in Accomack Co. closed due to truck crash

TEMPERANCEVILLE, Va. – A portion of southbound Route 13 in Accomack County is expected to be closed for the majority of the day due to a crash that took place earlier this morning.

We’re told the accident occurred at around 6 a.m. on Route 13, south of Tyson’s in the area of Chesser Road. Police say the drive of a Mack truck, identified as 49-year-old Chad Madden, failed to navigate a turn, ran off the roadway, and caused the vehicle to flip.

The truck was fully loaded with liquid asphalt and is currently leaking due to the crash. Hazmat teams are responding to the scene.

VDOT officials are setting up lane closures and detours.
