Police investigating pair of restaurant burglaries in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating a pair of restaurant burglaries that took place within an hour of each other Sunday morning.

We’re told the first incident took place at around 8:56 a.m., at the King Buffet located at 293 N. DuPont Highway. On arrival, officers found a cash register hanging from a broken window. Video surveillance showed a skinny male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt, gloves, face mask, a hat, and possibly jeans when he forced entry into the business.

Approximately one hour later, officers responded to the Friendly’s restaurant at 318 N. DuPont Highway, across the street from the King Buffet, for a reported burglary. Officers found a broken window in the walk-up service area and noted that the suspect forced open a safe and removed the contents, including an unknown amount of cash. Video surveillance showed the suspect using a hammer to break the glass and gain entry to the business. The suspect was wearing dark jeans, black Nike hooded sweatshirt, hat, gloves, and a face mask.
