Police investigating assault in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating an assault that happened early Monday that left a Georgetown man injured.

Monday around 5 am, police tell us the victim was walking westbound on old furnace road when a car driving close to the victim made a hand gesture towards them.

The car allegedly drove by then turned around and three or four people came out. Police say the victim tried to defend themselves with a pocket knife but was assaulted with their own knife.

We’re told the suspects later fled in their car. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital.
