Police: 18-year-old critically injured in reported stabbing in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say an 18-year-old is in critical condition following an early morning stabbing.
Just before 4 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the Emergency Room at Bayhealth Kent Campus after the victim arrived by private vehicle. We’re told the victim had a large laceration from his neck to his chest. Police say the victim refused to provide any information about the incident and also told police that if they identified the suspect that he does not want them arrested.
Investigating officers spoke with an acquaintance of the victim who was in the vehicle that took him to the hospital, learning that he was riding in a vehicle and observed the victim on the side of the road on Mifflin Road, just north of Hazletville Road, being assaulted by two unknown male suspects. The acquaintance told officers that he broke up the fight and noticed the victim’s injury, and that a second vehicle stopped to help. The second vehicle was occupied by strangers to the victim and acquaintance but took both to the hospital.
Officers checked the scene where the incident allegedly took place, but say they couldn’t find any evidence of the incident in that area.
This incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Dover Police at 302-736-7111 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
