OC preparing for pop-up car rally, Special Event Zone to take effect next week

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Town of Ocean City is preparing for a pop-up car rally which is anticipated to take place the weekend of September 24th through 26th.

In anticipation of this unauthorized event, Ocean City is urging residents and visitors to exercise caution in the town this weekend. The event is expected to bring large crowds, excessive noise, and extreme traffic delays.

The Ocean City Police Department will be increasing law enforcement presence throughout the town and has already established a Special Event Zone that will be in place from September 21st through 27th. This is intended to help deter dangerous driving and motor violations by lowering speed limits and increasing fines and penalties. Similar to a construction zone, violators of the Special Event Zone will face increased fines, or in some cases, arrest.
