Kent Co. drug bust leads to four arrests

KENT CO., Del. – Delaware State Police made four arrests on numerous drug and criminal charges after police concluded a multiple week drug investigation.

We’re told search warrants were executed on two residents, one motel room, and two vehicles on Tuesday as a result of the investigation. Troopers located 25-year-old Jaquell McDonald driving a 2012 Ford Fusion in the area of Lady Court in Dover. A traffic stop was conducted, and troopers found that McDonald had thrown approximately 28.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine out his driver side window prior to being contacted. He was taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of $2,542 in suspected drug money.

Troopers then responded to a residence on Lady Court and executed a search warrant, which resulted in the recovery of approximately 104.75 grams of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. As a result of this search, 27-year-old Shakiel Carter was taken into custody.

A search warrant was also conducted at a residence in the 100 block of Maple Drive in Frederica, leading to the recovery of several rounds of ammunition, an extended magazine, a 9mm handgun, drug paraphernalia, one ounce of marijuana, and approximately $1,598 in suspected drug money. This led to the arrest of 20-year-old Jahida Evans and 22-year-old Matthew Brown.

Police then executed a search warrant at a room in Poynter’s Motel in Felton, however, the search did not result in the discovery of any illicit contraband. No charges were filed as a result of this charge.

Finally, police executed a vehicle search warrant on a gray Ford Fusion belonging to McDonald, finding 1.8 pounds of marijuana inside.

McDonald was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, tampering with physical evidence, second degree conspiracy, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at SCI on a $136,200 cash bond.

Carter was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, second degree conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held on a $40,600 cash bond.

Evans was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, second degree conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance.

Brown was charged with possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, second degree conspiracy, criminal impersonation, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
