Household Hazard Waste Collection day scheduled in Wicomico County
SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County residents will soon have the chance to dispose of hazardous waste for free.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Newland Park Landfill. This event will be open to residents of Wicomico County, and participants should bring valid proof of residence such as a driver’s license.
The landfill will be accepting numerous hazardous waste materials, including gasoline, fuel, bleach, batters, fluorescent bulbs, pool chemicals, household smoke detectors, painting products, pain thinner, insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, compressed gas propane cylinders, ammonia, automotive fluids, wood stripping chemicals and preservatives, solvents, acid cleaners, and gas/oil mixes.
The landfill will not be accepting explosives, tires, asbestos, medical waste, radioactive material, ammunition, or business industrial or commercial farm waste.
Officials suggest that participants pre-arrange large loads. Empty fuel containers may be returned on request, and staff will assist in unloading vehicles.
