GO Purple toiletry drive gives one last push to gather donations

WICOMICO CO., Md. – Wicomico Goes Purple is giving one last push to gather donations for their toiletry drive.

We’re told Wicomico Goes Purple is looking for toiletry items from soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, or other essential hygiene items. The items are then donated to specific individuals and organizations who need it, especially those who are homeless.

Last year the organization held a food drive, but this year they tell 47 ABC, they are lacking in donations and hope to get more by the last day, September 30th. “Personal hygiene can be costly, but they’re also really important for individuals,” says Christina Bowie-Simpson, Wicomico Co. Opioid Coordinator. She adds, “It’s just really important to help support individuals that need support, and we just hope to continue to do these types of projects through Wicomico goes purple each year.”
We’re also told, to stray away from providing toiletry items that have alcohol in them if possible and preferably travel-sized items, but all sizes are welcome.
If you want to find out more about the drop-off locations, or how else you can help the organization, just head to their website.
The last day to make donations is Thursday, September 30th.
