Wicomico County Public School District expanding registration efforts for families
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.- The public school district is trying to make the student registration process easier for families who have kids going to school in the fall.
The district is hosting pop up register events for families that have students that will be 3, 4, or 5- years-old by September first.
Earlier Thursday, the district held one of these events at the Doverdale Playground.
We are told right now these events are crucial because enrollment is significantly down across the county, so these events are being held in an effort to have parents understand register is important- and give them more access.
“We’ve had families that haven’t been able to complete the registration process based on the computer requirements that we have in the system right now, so we are offering today hot-spots computer and laptops to have families be able to register their students for school,” Curt Twilley, Beaver Run Principle, said.
Twilley said they do have paper applications as well, which you can get from any primary school.
We are told Full day Pre K is now available at all Primary School sites as well as Delmar Elementary as of this year.
Y3 Programs are located at Beaver Run, Pemberton, Fruitland, Charles H Chipman and West Salisbury.
The next event will be at the Truitt Center next Thursday from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.
To register online go to www.wcboe.org then click For Parents & Students, then Enrollment. There you will create the child’s account and begin the registration process.
