TidalHealth offers Diabetes Education Classes, promoting healthy living for those with diabetes
SALISBURY, MD.- Tidal Health is responding to an increase in type 2 diabetes here on the shore by offering educational classes to help those affected by it live a healthy life.
The five-week program will be offered either in person for afternoon and evening sessions through Telehealth services.
Classes include discussion on nutrition and healthy eating, monitoring blood sugar, exercise, and more.
Health experts say their goal is to get the classes filled. “That’s what we’re seeing in these COVID times is that people that are not well controlled and have other complications related to diabetes,” said TidalHealth’s Diabetes Educator Susan Cottongim.
“The people with diabetes are the ones that have to control it. We can give them the information but they’re the ones that have to really apply it. So that’s where learning more and coming in for education can really make a difference.”
The cost of the program may be covered by insurance.
