Sunrise Motel gets green light to move forward with preliminary site plan, including more rooms

SEAFORD, Del.- The Sunrise Motel is moving forward with site plans for a second building.

The council recently approved the preliminary site plan, for the addition of a 22 room building on the existing motel property, off of Sussex Highway.

The motel was annexed in the Fall of 2020., and it currently houses 22 rooms.

We are told by Seaford’s Director of Economic Development and Community Relations that they are excited to see their city territory grow and all the developments that continue to happen.

“It does feel amazing to have so many growth opportunities, it’s from mild to wild whether it’s the small business owners to the big box amazon all of it is important and seeing it all takes place even during the times of COVID that’s huge,” Trisha Newcomer, Director of Economic Development, said.

Newcomer said the next steps is that the plans will go through planning and zoning.

Then plans will be seen again by the city council.
