Somerset Co. Health Department to hold mass back to school vaccination clinics

WESTOVER, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department will hold their annual mass back-to-school vaccination clinics starting later this month.

For the 2021-22 school year, all children entering Kindergarten through 7th grades are required to have two doses of the Varicella (chicken pox) avaccine. Children entering 7th through 12th grades are also required to have the Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis/Whooping Cough (Tdap) and Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccines. The health department is also encouraging youth to get the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine beginning at age 11 or 12.

An appointment is required for these clinics. Parents will need to bring a current vaccination record at the time of the visit.

Clinics will be held on the following dates and times:

  • August 23, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • August 31, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • September 7, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • September 14, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

All clinics will be held at the Somerset County Health Department, located at 8928 Sign Post Road, Section C, Westover, MD.
