Red, white and blue run returns, in person

GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Run, White, and Blue 5k run and one mile walk is returning, in person. The run comes just in time for 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Delaware Technical community college at the Georgetown campus is hosting their 8th annual Red, White and Blue run on September 9th. We’re told all the proceeds benefit the scholarships for veterans and first responders.

Those with Del-tech tell us, now that they’re back live and in person, this run also gives them a chance to show just how important veterans and first responders are to us. Even with the pandemic lingering, we’re told they’re just excited to keep growing their event. “In 2019, that was our biggest race we had over 500 participants so we don’t think we’ll quite get that this year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’re very hopeful to continue to grow it,” says Janelle Boyer, Director of Communications and Planning at Del-Tech. She adds, “We’re just very happy to help our first responders and veterans be able to continue their education.”

We’re also told racers should meet at the Student Services Flag pole on the day of the race. Registration for the day of the event begins at 5 p.m. and the race starts at 6 p.m. Adults registering are $25, and students, veterans, military, and first responders are $10. There will also be a family cook-out post race, including fun games for everyone
