Police searching for suspect in early morning business burglaries

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating three burglaries they say took place within roughly 30 minutes of each other early Monday morning.

We’re told the first incident was reported at around 4:10 a.m., at the Exxon station at 1710 North DuPont Highway. On arrival, police found that the front glass door had been shattered with a large concrete block, and the suspect had used a trashcan to steal approximately 167 packs of Newport cigarettes before fleeing.

A short time later, officers were called to another burglary alarm at Jeweler’s Loupe, located at 1574 N. DuPont Highway. Officers found damage to the front windows of the business, as well as a concrete block that was left behind. The suspect was not able to make entry into the business.

The third incident took place at the Valero station located at 1358 Forrest Avenue. Police found the glass front door to the business had been shattered with a concrete block. Video surveillance showed the suspect using another trashcan from the business to steal approximately 70 packs of Newport cigarettes before fleeing.

The suspect is believed to be a male, wearing a blue/dark color jumpsuit, brown boots, gloves, and a “Corona” ball cap.
