Police: Man arrested after fleeing from officers with firearm
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a man on gun charges after he fled on foot early Saturday morning.
Just after 1 a.m., officers were in the area of S. Bradford Street when they heard a single gunshot and saw a suspect running in the area of Minor Street Alley with a black handgun in his hand. The suspect reportedly refused to stop when ordered by police, who pursued him onto Loockerman Street.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Akeem Ferrell, was taken into custody on Loockerman Street and was found in possession of the handgun. He was also found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and also had an active no-contact order that prohibited him from possessing a firearm.
Ferrell was charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, breach of release, and resisting arrest. He was committed to SCI on a $9,000 cash bond.
