Police: Loaded handgun found during traffic stop
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a man on gun charges during a traffic stop Friday night.
According to police, a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle at around 9:40 p.m. after the driver committed a stop sign violation. As the vehicle was stopping, the officer saw the driver reaching in the rear passenger side area.
During the stop, officers observed a loaded handgun with an extended magazine on the floorboard of the rear passenger side. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Nashere Edwards, was taken into custody as a result.
Edwards was later released on his own recognizance after being charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and traffic offenses.
