New SBY welcome guide to assist with the growing and diverse population

SALISBURY, Md. – In the efforts to be more inclusive of the growing population, the city of Salisbury and Mayor Jake day released the Salisbury Welcome Guide.

We’re told this guidebook will be available in English, Spanish, and Haitian-Creole to help introduce the city to new, prospective, and current residents. The guide will have information about health care, tenant rights, legal information and much more.

Mayor Day tells 47 ABC, during the pandemic residents struggled to find accessible resources, and after the census came out they knew they had to do something about it. “Local government has an obligation to be responsive to everyone, every single resident,” says Mayor Day. He adds, “So if we’re going to continue to be that place and see economic opportunity grow, then we’re going to have to be a place that’s accessible to all and at the same time, we want to make sure that nobody is left behind.”

We’re told the city is also working on creating a guide in Korean as well.
