Milford talks strategy when it comes to economic development and recovery for the city
MILFORD, Del. – The city of Milford tells 47 ABC, they’re focusing on small businesses, and expanding as they navigate out of this pandemic.
We’re told Sara Pletcher was hired three months ago as the city’s Economic Development and Community Engagement administrator. She says she’s ready to hit the ground running.
Pletcher tells us, the city was lucky not to lose any businesses during the pandemic. Now as a city that prides themselves on artistic value, Pletcher says she wants to focus on building up the community by utilizing older buildings, and adding more businesses that add to those ideals. She says growth, is how they’ll move forward as a city. “To fill vacant spaces just makes everything more vibrant, when you have more business community, more people walking on your street, you’re going to have more overall success and I think everyone can kind of see that,” says Pletcher. She adds, “In my role I hope to be that matchmaker so once I said I want to open that spa, I want to open a hairdresser, I want to open a restaurant and defined them and be able to plug them in.”
Pletcher also tells 47 ABC, she wants to continue connecting with people virtually to help the city expand.
