DSU professor weighs in on U.S. longest war ending
DELAWARE- After, a day of ending the United States longest war in Afghanistan a local professor is weighing in.
Dr. Samuel Hoff, from Delaware State University, says he thinks there are lessons to be learned from this war like re-assessing the nation’s goals when in conflicts like this.
And just because all U.S.troops have been removed fighting terrorism isn’t going to stop.
He said one of the problems with leaving Afghanistan in the way we did there’s going to be a lack of intelligence in the region.
“I think they are going to have to be monitoring of what’s going on in Afghanistan even though we lost a large part of our intelligence apparatus whether it be what we have left there, human intelligence or drones,” Dr. Samuel Hoff, George Washington Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History and Political Science, said.
Dr. Hoff added because the United States spent so much money on the operation in Afghanistan the money can now go towards the fight against terrorism in other areas.
He also said that some countries may feel we have retreated, but we should make sure our allies know if they need help we will come their aid.
