Delaware man riding nearly 150 miles on bike for cancer support

DELAWARE – One man will soon ride nearly one hundred and 50 miles on his bike through the state, all to raise money for cancer.

Sean Saxton is a triathlete who will ride those 146 miles on September 26. He teamed up with Cancer Support Community Delaware to organize the ride to raise money, as people can support his ride, pay to have their loved one’s name honored on his bike, or even become a captain for the day and set up along the route to cheer Sean on.

Organizers at CSCDE say programming like this is so important to them to help raise money and get the word out about their work. Plus, for Sean, it really hits home.

“I lost my aunt to colorectal cancer back in 2018, and I always wanted to do something to honor her, so I thought I’d reach out to Cancer Support Community Delaware and let them know, hey, I was interested in doing this 146 mile ride, I wanted to do something crazy, and I’d like to donate and raise money for you guys,” Sean said.

If you’re interested in getting involved, you can email Michelle Mallon at MMallon@cscde.org.
