Cross-state trek to help kids battling illnesses
MARYLAND – A cross-state trek is set to kick off this weekend in Maryland and it’s all for a good cause.
Justin Berk is the man behind Justin Power Kids, a non-profit that’s dedicated to helping kids through illnesses including pediatric cancer. This weekend, Berk and his teammates will start on their annual cross-state trek to raise money for that non profit so they can help more kids.
They’ll start on Sunday, and eventually make their way all the way to Ocean City, with a planned arrival of August 14.
And when we say trek, that’s exactly what it is, as Berk and the others will hike dozens of a miles per day and also ride bikes for some portions. But Berk says it’s all worth it to help kids through a tough time.
“Everything you give goes to the program for the kids, and while my name is built into this event and the nonprofit, I never take a penny, I can promise you that, that your money is literally going to the cause and the kids that we are talking about,” he said.
