Community putting on Chicken BBQ Fundraiser Saturday to support Sergeant with cancer

FRUITLAND, Md.- The community is coming together for a chicken BBQ fundraiser Saturday to support a Maryland state Trooper who was diagnosed with Myeloma Cancer.

Sergeant William Laramore has been a trooper with the Princess Anne Maryland State Police Barrack since 1997.

He was diagnosed with cancer in May.

To help pay for medical expenses, cost of travel for treatments, and more people are stepping up to put on a chicken BBQ fundraiser, more importantly they’re letting Sergeant Laramore he doesn’t have to fight this alone.

“The family needs some support, Sergeant Bill needs some support, and just want to let them know we are here, the communities here I mean this was put together in a couple of days it’s just a testimony to how quickly the community can jump up and get into action,” Jeff Merritt, the Founder of Operation We Care,” said.

The fundraiser begins at 10 a.m. at the Redmen’s Tony Tank Lodge.

A $10 donation will be used to purchase a meal.

We’re told there will also be a silent auction, bake sale, and raffles during the event.
