3rd Friday plans altered due to weather forecast

Third Friday Returns To Downtown

SALISBURY, Md. – Due to the threat of rain, tonight’s 3rd Friday event in Downtown Salisbury has been slightly reduced.

We’re told vendors will be located on the Plaza only, and water activities will not be held, but many indoor activities will continue as planned.

Salisbury Art Space will host the opening reception for its 2021 Members Exhibition, an annual show that shines a spotlight on the talents for Salisbury Art Space’s members. Winners will be announced during the opening reception, to be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, the work of Jinchul Kim will be on display in the Foyer Gallery, and the work of UMES Sequential Arts Professors Elvin Hernandez and Bradley Hudson will be on display in the Robinson Gallery. Salisbury Art Space is located on the lowest level of the Salisbury University Building.

Blackwater Apothecary, located on the second floor of the City Center Building, will also be open and will feature an interactive art installation called “Letters to the Lost: Letters to the Living” in conjunction with Wicomico Goes Purple.

The Mane Event will now take place inside the Brick Room due to the rain threat. The Mane Event is a special fundraising and awareness event where local long-haired women will auction off sections of their hair to make wigs for those with medical hair loss in honor of the memory of Ashley Gilkerson. Locks chopped will be donated to Hair We Share, and all proceeds will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Ashley’s preferred charity.

SBY Movies on the River will be canceled for this evening, and North Division Street and E. Main Street from Main to Court Street will remain open to traffic.
