WICOMICO CO., Md. – Wicomico County officials are preparing for Tropical Storm Elsa as it makes its way toward Delmarva.

David Shipley with Wicomico County Emergency Services says they’ve been monitoring the storm for days now, sending out bulletin updates to other officials to make sure everyone is prepared.

He says there are things people can do inside of their own homes as well to be prepared. That includes making sure you’re stocked up on batteries in case you lose power and also making sure the exterior of your home is safe.

“You could clear the branches away from your home of course, clear your gutters so the water runs off, but you need to keep monitoring your local TV and radio information, that’s very important to do that,” Shipley said.

Shipley says if you notice trees or power lines down, call public works.
