UMES Star Power Camp visits 47 ABC

SALISBURY, Md. – On Friday, our crew had some very special guests in the newsroom.

Campers from UMES’s Star Power camp visited the station Friday. The camp is all about camera work, editing videos, and all kinds of behind the scenes fun that goes into producing TV and other videos. Campers got a tour with Good Morning Delmarva’s Deana Harley and Meteorologist Sloane Haines who showed them the newsroom, our studio, and where all the behind the scenes goodness happens.

One camper tells us she’s loving the program so far and figuring out if this is a career she can see herself in down the road.

“It was amazing! I’m thinking about doing this in the future maybe. I’m not sure but hopefully,” said Tsegu Aurand.

Organizers with the camp tell us they’re excited to give the kids the opportunity to see behind the scenes work and hope that some of them will find a passion and a future career.
