SECU Maryland Foundation awards 28 students $115k in scholarships
MARYLAND,- As the cost of education continues to rise, one local organization is trying to bring some relief for students.
The State Employees Credit Union Maryland Foundation provided $115,000 in scholarships to 28 students.
2 students are from right here in Wicomico County, including 1 of 3 grand prize winners who received $5,000.
For the past 15 years, the organization has supported students who want to continue their educational journey, whether that be college or trade school.
The organizations says this funding helps take a little of that stress away. “Some of them, this scholarship is the difference between them finishing their degree and not finishing their degree. For many of these students, it takes a chunk away from the student loans they will have to repay.” “We just have so much to celebrate with our scholars accomplishments and their future as they continue on with their education,” said Senior Community Outreach Specialist Amanda Parsley.
The organization’s says students are eligible for the scholarships even if they were a recipient in the past.
