Police: Traffic stop leads to recovery of stolen handgun, drugs

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Two Virginia men are behind bars on numerous charges following a traffic stop on Sunday.

We’re told police initiated a traffic stop after they saw a vehicle fail to stop before entering onto Philadelphia Avenue in the area of the 200 block of 2nd Street. A search of the vehicle was conducted during the stop, leading to the discovery of four loaded handguns, additional ammunition, approximately 2 ounces of marijuana, two digital scales, and more than $4,000 in cash.

A check on the handguns found inside the vehicle revealed that one had been reported stolen.

As a result, 19-year-old Dennis Sanchez Jr. and 19-year-old Tobias Kargbo, both of Alexandria, VA, were arrested.

Sanchez was charged with three counts of loaded handgun on person, four counts of loaded handgun in vehicle, four counts of possession of firearm/ammo/minor, three counts of handgun on person, four counts of handgun in vehicle, regulated firearm: stolen/sell, four counts of CDS distribution with firearm, four counts of firearm/drug traffic crime, possession of marijuana 10+ grams, and CDS possession with intent to distribute.

Kargbo was charged with three counts of possession of firearm/ammo/minor, two counts of loaded handgun on person, three counts of loaded handgun in vehicle, three counts of handgun in vehicle, two counts of handgun on person, three counts of CDS: distribution with firearm, three counts of firearm/drug traffic crime, CDS possession with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana 10+ grams.

Both were held without bond.
