Plans moving forward to repaint Berlin basketball court, community help needed
BERLIN, Md.- A community project finally got the green light this week to move forward with repainting the basketball courts at the Dr.William Henry Park.
Adrian Bowen, one of the community leaders leading the project, said growing up in the area he has seen these courts change overtime with less people using them.
But now Bowen and others will be able to make a difference for this park on Flower Street, since the council voted unanimously and gave approval to paint the courts and add lights.
A step Bowen said he’s excited about.
“I’m over the top, I try not to show it, I try to be humble but I’m really over the top,” Adrian Bowen, We Heart Berlin board member, said.
“The highway makes us into two separate towns and this side of town we don’t get much action, so to bring a ton of people outside and together to do this project I think it will be a lasting thing people having a helping hand saying I did that,” Bowen said.
We are told that the project has many donors, the Worcester County Arts Council donated $4,500.
They will need help painting the courts, they are looking to start the project in September or October.
We are told that Tony Weeg with We Heart Berlin has also helped with this initiative.
Kelsey Hall is responsible for her artwork for the basketball courts.
