New program at Food Bank Of Delaware tackles job insecurity
DELAWARE.- Not only is one organization tackling food insecurity in the first state, they’re adding job training to their duties as well.
The Delaware Food Bank is now offering the Delaware Food Works job training program for those interested in food service or warehousing.
The organization says the need came from difficulties finding jobs or changing careers.
Classes are free and in-person with both programs offering two weeks paid work experience as part of the training.
The organization says their goal is to provide hands on experience.
We’re told, once you’re apart of the program you’re in for life. “Just know that when coming and attending Delaware Food Works, you become apart of the family. So we’re a group that’s going to work with you while you’re here and once you leave we’re still going to work with you,” said Program Director Lisa Grinnage.
“We are an outlet. We are individuals that want to see you succeed.”
The program also will provide students with transportation to and from class, uniforms, and supplies.
Applications are now being accepted for both programs, with the Culinary School classes beginning in August.
