Mental health conference for first responders coming to OC

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Several organizations in Ocean City are coming together in a few weeks to make sure first responders have a safe, open place to talk about their mental wellness.

Behind the Line, Inc. is working alongside the Ocean City Police Department to put on a mental health conference for first responders on September 9th and 10th. For the first time this event is coming not just to Maryland, but to the East Coast.

First responders will have the chance to talk about challenges they face at work, tough topics they bring home with them, and so much more. Organizers say the conference is a chance to attack those challenges and make sure first responders stay mentally healthy.

“We know that first responders are facing many hardships and stresses, and the more information we can give them, the more we can hopefully kind of increase their wellness and just their life in general,” said Heather Brown with Behind the Line, Inc.

If you’re a first responder or a spouse of a first responder, you can register for the event online. First responders include police officers, fire officials, correctional officers, and many more titles.
