Father and son kayaking to raise money for hunger relief

MARYLAND – A Maryland father and son duo kicked off a 12-day kayaking journey to raise money for hunger relief last Friday.

The expedition, which started in Elkton, will take them on a 200-mile north-to-south traverse of the Chesapeake Bay to Smith Island, Virginia. On Monday, they stopped in Kent Narrows after experiencing rough tides and strong winds.

Hearly Mayr and son, Andreas Mayr, are doing this to support the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, which aims to raise $3 million by July 31. This support will help families who have been hit hard by the pandemic by providing access to food and other essentials. Andreas is also the youngest teen to paddle the entire Chesapeake Bay ever.
