Crisfield celebrates brand new hiker and biker trail

CRISFIELD, Md.- The community came together for a grand opening celebration for a hiker and biker trail.

We’re told the county broke ground for the Terrapin Run Trail, on Marion Road, back in 2019.

The park will be completed in three phases, but with the first phase finally finished, officials told us they are happy to see people already taking advantage of the trail.

And they hope to make people proud with this project.

“Theres some pride in this project, it’s our project it was funded by a grant a grant is an award,” Clint Sterling, Director of Recreation Parks and Tourism for Somerset County, said.

“This is unprecedented in the county so it really was a long road from start to finish, not only the design and the planning and the permitting, but really the outreach to the residents,” Sterling said.

We’re told they already have grant funding for the second phase of the project and they hope to get that done in the next couple of years.

In the meantime, they hope to have events at the trail in the future.
