Commissioner Hudson is passed the torch, ready to take DOC to the next level

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Corrections celebrated Thursday afternoon with a ceremony to pass the torch to the new Commissioner, Monroe B. Hudson Jr.

We’re told Commissioner Hudson has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement. Even though most of his time served as Deputy Commissioner was during the pandemic, he says he wants to focus on hiring, retention, and more importantly, moving forward.

With the nationwide struggle to get cadets interested in law enforcement, he wants to ensure they continue to get the best and continue to improve in their correction facilities in the state. “We’ve seen first hand the great work and professionalism made by the officers and the support staff,” says Commissioner Hudson. “We’ll continue to monitor that and make sure out salaries are competitive because we certainly don’t want to lose people.”

Hudson says he hopes to do well by the state of Delaware, and certainly the commissioners office, and continue to rehabilitate prisoners.
