Camden man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop


DOVER, Del. — Delaware State Police say they’ve arrested 25-year-old, James Palmer on drug and traffic charges, following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in Dover.

Police say on July 14th around 12:45 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of US 13 and Longacre Driver, Dover, observed a black Honda Accord traveling southbound on US 13 with a vehicle registration violation.

A traffic stop was initiated, but upon contact with the driver, Palmer, and a 25-year-old female passenger, police say they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. A probable cause search was conducted, and approximately 965.29 grams of marijuana was found inside the car.

Palmer was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession
  • Failure to Transfer Title and Registration

The 25-year-old was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on a $5,700.00 unsecured bond. The woman passenger was not charged and released at the scene.
