Beach reopens following fireworks explosion in OC
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Ocean City Fire Marshals have re-opened the beach after the unintentional discharge of fireworks Sunday morning.
The remaining fireworks were destroyed Monday evening at around 6:20 p.m., on the beach at Dorchester Street. The beach area officially reopened Tuesday morning.
The investigation has determined that one of the fireworks being loaded was prematurely and unintentionally discharged, causing a chain reaction of fireworks to be discharged. According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, a damaged and/or faulty firework product could not be ruled out.
At this time, there is no indication of any criminal or intentional intent.
