U.S. Kennel Club fundraising for new location

SALISBURY, Md. – One organization in Salisbury is dedicated to helping disabled veterans, but now they’re asking for a helping hand from the community.

The U.S. Kennels Club not only helps those disabled veterans, but also rescue and shelter dogs. Here’s what they do – they pair one of those dogs with a disabled veteran that they can help. Then, they train the two together to make sure they’re both healthy and taken care of.

They’re operating out of a space at the Holly Center right now, but they’re raising money for another location so they can help even more disabled veterans.

“From where we’ve grown so much in the past several years, and plus the new facility that we’re looking at, actually has kennels, because unfortunately we have no place here to keep or board dogs so we pass up a lot of good dogs,” Chris Hardy, the Executive Director of the organization, said.

Hardy says the new space would also allow them to cut down on time needed to train, meaning veterans would be paired with their dogs even sooner. If you’re interested in donating or getting involved, visit their website.
