Suspects in June 2020 OC assaults receive lengthy prison sentences

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Seven suspects involved in two assaults that took place on the Ocean City Boardwalk in June of 2020 have received lengthy prison sentences.

On June 9, 2020, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., Ocean City Police officers responded to two assaults on the Boardwalk at 11th Street and 15th Street. It was determined that the same group of individuals were responsible for both incidents. Through investigative measures, surveillance footage, and numerous citizen tips, police were able to identify the seven suspects.

The suspects have all pled guilty to second degree assault in the Worcester County Circuit Court. The sentences are as follows:

  • Marquis Demby, 23, Lincoln, DE: Sentenced to 10 years in prison
  • Marcus Butler, 28, Cambridge, MD: Sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 7 years suspended
  • Orlando Nichols Jr., 21, Cambridge, MD: Sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 6 years suspended
  • Xavier Spencer, 20, Cambridge, MD: Sentenced to 10 years in prison
  • Daveione Cephas, 21, Cambridge, MD: Sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 6 years suspended
  • Cortez Murray, 24, Easton, MD: Sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 6 years suspended
  • Kabreon Nichols, 19, Cambridge, MD: Sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 5 years suspended
