Mulligan’s winner lifts Bucs to championship game

KI will play for 2A title on Saturday

SALISBURY, Md- The Kent Island boys lacrosse team advanced to the 2A championship game on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Parkside 5-4.

The Buccaneers got the go-ahead goal from attack Jack Mulligan with 46 seconds remaining in the game.

Trailing 4-3 with 6:46 left in the fourth, the Bucs would strike to tie the contest. The Rams would hold possession for much of the final three minutes, until a shot with 1:32 left was swallowed up by the KI defense.

After holding possession inside one minute, Mulligan would settle in on the right side and swing a worm burner just under the goalie’s stick to give the Bucs late advantage.

Parkside would have one final opportunity, with the shot sailing high over the KI cage.

Dom Flora Jr. finished with all four goals for Parkside. Kent Island will take on Hereford on Saturday, June 18th at Loyola University.
