Milford Advocacy for the Homeless gathering supplies for summer months
MILFORD, Del.- As we get into the hotter months, a homeless advocacy group said this population is in need of more supplies.
The Milford Advocacy for the Homeless is a non-profit that partners with organizations to get supplies to the homeless and advocate for them.
The founder told us that as temperatures rise, the need increases, many are outside and don’t have a place to go or even get water.
She added that during the pandemic finding resources have been more challenging.
So, that’s why community support during these summer months is crucial.
“It’s been especially hard with all the restrictions from COVID, the things even though that they are relaxing a lot of the ways that they used to get cooled off they cant do that,” Martha Gery, the Founder and President of The Milford Advocacy for the Homeless, said.
“If you think about it for a lot of people you just go to your spigot and pour up some water, they don’t have a spigot to pour it up,” Gery said.
Gery said right now they are looking for bottles of water, cooling rags, sunscreen, shoes, and clothes.
