Maryland Comptroller candidate says he’s dedicated to being a strong voice for taxpayers
MARYLAND – As candidates continue to prepare for election year next year for state government offices, one candidate made a stop on the Eastern shore for a meet and greet.
County Executive of Harford County, Barry Glassman is the only republican candidate out of the three, whose running for Maryland Comptroller. Glassman tells 47 ABC, he’s running for comptroller and has big plans for not only the Eastern Shore, but the state of Maryland.
Glassman says he has spent 30 years in public service, and was a former member of the Maryland state senate. He says growing up, he was a farmer for a good part of his life so his passion for the working class flourishes. Glassman tells also tells us, as county executive he was able to take Harford’s model of Fiscal Efficiency and held the line on no new taxes. He says the taxpayers are his main focus, and state government should trust counties because they’re closer to the tax payers.
In a meet and greet with business and city officials in the area, Glassman learned about the importance of business on the Eastern Shore, and the help needed for the state’s economy to recover. Glassman says he wants to be a strong voice going into 2022, and wants to advocate for the working people. “Lets face it, all taxpayers whether they’re republicans, democrats, or independents want to make sure that government spends their money properly and budgets properly. So I think my experience lends myself to do that,” says Glassman. “We have an opportunity particularly with my background, to really give Maryland an independent strong Comptroller that’s going to look out for Maryland taxpayers and I hate to say it, but it’s as simple as being a good watch dog for the taxpayer.”
Candidate Glassman also tells us, he plans to return to the Eastern Shore over the next year and a half to find out how he can use his platform to best help those on the Eastern Shore, if he is elected.
The election will be in the fall of 2022.
