Loaded firearm leads to multiple charges for Salisbury man

1280 Ward

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man is behind bars after he was found with a loaded firearm and drugs Saturday night.

At around 8 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an individual sitting in a parked vehicle in the 700 block of South Westover Drive who was reportedly armed with a gun. On arrival, police located the vehicle in question and approached the driver, later identified as 29-year-old Terrance Ward. During the investigation, the deputy observed in plain view what would be identified as a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with an extended 30 round magazine. Further inspection of the weapon showed it had a round chambered and was ready to fire.

Ward was subsequently placed under arrest for the firearm. A continued search of the vehicle led to the recovery of cocaine and crack cocaine with an amount and manner of packing indicative of intent to distribute. It was also learned that Ward was prohibited from possessing a regulated firearm due to a previous criminal conviction.

Ward was held without bond on possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, wear/carry a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, handgun in vehicle, and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute charges.
