Kent Island lax advances to their first Final Four appearance since ’18
STEVENSVILLE, MD.- Behind 7 goals from junior Jamie Smith, the Kent Island Bucs defeated Oakdale 14-4 to advance to the 2A Semifinals. The Buccaneers draw Bayside South foe Parkside on Wednesday.
It’s been three years (2 seasons) since the Kent Island Buccaneers made an appearance in the 2A semifinals, they fell to Marriotts Ridge 11-5. Today, the Bucs welcomed in Oakdale with a chance to return to the final four on the line.
KI jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead midway through the second quarter. The Bears showing why they made it this far, two goals from Troy Ulisney cut the lead to just two ending the half on a 2-0 lead. That as close as Oakdale would come to the KI lead. The Bucs exploded in the second half with nine goals, four in the third and five in the fourth while only giving up one to the Bears in the process.
The win propels Kent Island to the State Semifinals on Wednesday, they’ll travel to Salisbury to take on the number one seed Rams.
