Handgun threat leads to arrest of Dover man on multiple charges
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a man Sunday evening after he allegedly threatened a group of people with a handgun.
Police responded to the report on Slaughter Street just after 7 p.m. It was learned that just before officers arrived on scene, the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Dwahn Hooks, got into the passenger side of a gray SUV and fled the area.
Officers located the SUV in the area of New Burton Street and Dover Street and initiated a traffic stop. Hooks and the driver were taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded 9mm handgun under Hook’s seat.
Hooks was charged with possession of a firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and violation of probation. He was held at SCI on an $8,000 secured bond.
