ECI slowly returning to normal, bringing back programs

WESTOVER, Md.- At the Eastern Correctional Institution things are slowly starting to look normal.

The Secretary of Maryland’s Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said the prison is still following CDC guidelines.

Like testing their staff and inmates weekly and offering vaccines to their entire population.

He said carefully they are starting to bring back some educational and recreational activities.

“Our education programs, where perhaps we couldn’t do them virtually how we are beginning to stand those programs up 41 and again doing it in a very deliberate, timed fashion, and in some cases by region,” Robert Green, the Secretary of MD Dept of Public Safety and Correctional Services, said.

We’re told their food harvest programs have started back up,  and they are hoping group activities can resume soon, perhaps in smaller groups with social distancing.
