SU hosting “Dismantling Anti-Asian Racism” Virtual Event

SALISBURY, Md.- It’s Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month and in honor of the month  Salisbury University is putting on a virtual panel tonight.

The online event called, “Dismantling Anti-Asian Racism,” will dive deeper into the history and experiences of Asian Americans and the impacts of Anti-Asian racism.

We’re told discussion about this topic really started after the recent shootings of Asian Americans in the country.

So, with the help of faculty members from departments across campus they hope people can learn, listen, reflect, and take action.

“Through sometimes panel discussions we can bring awareness to the experiences of others and when we are more knowledgeable about those experiences, then it causes us to lean in and think how can we join in solidarity with those against those violent acts,”Joan Williams, Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, said.

The event will start at 7 pm.

You can head to salisbury.universitytickets.com to register for the event.

The City of Salisbury will also be sharing the live stream on their Facebook page facebook.com/CityofSBY.
